ROME 06.03.2008 – Contesta is always involved in the social issues that affect the world, and in March of 2008 hosted a demonstration to remind citizens about the ongoing issue of waste pollution. So problems like the one which occurred in Naples never happen again. Teaming up with Greenpeace, the City of Rome and the neighborhood of Pigneto they collected plastic containers, paper bags and other rubbish and amassed it in the nearby salon. Continuing to work in the terrible conditions in which many were forced to live in, staff wore protective gear and clients took notice. This demonstration caught the attention of the press and the public and later in the day the staff and some volunteers formed a human chain to publicly dispose the rubbish in giant trucks provided by Rome’s Department of Sanitation. The entire event was captured on video and is available for viewing via social networks, blogs and existing mass media outlets.
