HORSE HEAD
ContestaRockHair Happy Hours in NYC are glad to present an extract from “Horse Head”, a play by Damon Lockwood awarded at Rome Fringe festival 2012 and presented this time by the Italian Cultural Association “ Cattive Compagnie” (Bad Influence)
The piece is set into our project called Teather off the teather”: shows performance and exhibition in our salons to bring art into the everyday life.
“Horse Head” will be staged at the Connelly Theatre on August 10, with four replicates until August 25 and it is a spin- off from “The Godfather”,one of Francis Ford Coppola’s masterpiece .
The plot concerns about two fictional characters from this movie.
As we all remember in the movie, an award-winning racehorse is beheaded while his head is left during the night in the bed of his owner, a successful Hollywood director guilty of refusing an ‘offer of Don Corleone.
Have you ever thought about the two “picciotti” – Italian slang for henchmen often used by Mafia- who had the mission of doing it?
Horse Head is the tragicomic story of them:
Edmund – a failed actor who is losing self-esteem –
And his brother Philip -a tormented picciotto whose name means effectively “ lover of horses”.
decided to accept Don Corleone’s offer to guarantee themselves a rich life and a way through the underworld.
“Horse Head” is a 60 minute one-act comedy and it shows the evolution of two characters who, in order to accomplish this risky and infamous task, will be forced to face their own demons.
